Draper Temple open house!

January 26th 2009
Today for FHE we went to the Draper temple open house. The kids were so excited. I got tickets back in October and they just couldn't wait to go. We took my dad and sister with us too. The kids thought it was so neat and have talked about it for days now. After we went through and when we got home I let each of them color a picture in their journals of their experience then I wrote down their feelings. It was such a wonderful experience for all of us and I loved to hear what was so special about the temple to each of them and what they remembered. Both Katie and Justin said that their hearts felt good and warm inside and I explained that they felt the spirit. I thought it was so neat. They were really good and reverent too, they knew this was such a special place. Katie & Megan really loved the ride on the bus too. It was a FHE I think they will remember for a really long time. They keep asking me when they get to go to the oquirh (spelling) temple too. I know they are really excited to see it. I am so glad we have an eternal family, and the temple is what connects all the pieces to make that possible. I loved that while in the temple they sat us down in one of the sealing rooms and let each family stand up together and look into the mirrors as a family, that really helped our kids get a small glimpse of what eternity is, it just kept going and going Justin said. What an amazing principle and concept. I am so grateful it is something I can share and teach our kids. Wow the plan of salvation really is amazing.

Touring Sweets candy factory!

January 19th 2009
Today I took the kids with 2 of my friends and their kids to the Sweet's candy factory down by the airport for a tour! It was so fun and neat. I really enjoyed it too. And the kids loved all the samples and learning all about how candy is made. They loved the bag of taffy at the end and they looked so cute in their little hairnets. It was really fun! I think we are going to plan another trip soon for the joy school kids if anyone wants to go let me know.

Katie, Justin and Megan in their hats. The only way Megan would keep her hat on was bribing her with candy. What can I say it worked!

I'm trying to sleep here!

January 2009
Today after church the kids were really excited to see dad. He had stayed home since he wasn't feeling well. I think these are pretty funny because all 3 kids were on him and laughing. I could tell they wanted to play but he wasn't exactly in the mood.
HELP!

I love this one with just his hand out! Save me.

Happy 90th Birthday to Rob's Grandpa!

January 17, 2009
Today was Rob's grandpas 90th birthday. We celebrated at Rob's parents house with most of his family there. Many from out of town. It was so fun to listen to him tell stories of him as a little boy and remember good times. He is such an amazing person and he has taught me so much. He taught music for most of his life (must be where Rob and all his family get it). He is devoted to whatever he does and has a smile that is so contagious. All of us took a minute to write a little of our feelings about him and then we compiled them all into a book and it was so fun to hear all of the memories everyone had of him. Most of us talked about his little red truck (the one we just bought from him), fishing trips, California trips, music, or his candy drawer (he has a drawer full of candy bars and every time you go visit you have to hit the drawer), his singing fish, and the blankets he has given all of the great-grandchildren when they were born (my kids sleep with theirs every night). What an amazing and thoughtful person who we are so happy to have in our lives. He has been through a lot. Including world war II, living on a farm, and knowing what it was like to live through really hard times. He is a hard worker and so giving. Thanks Grandpa for all you do we will never forget all the wonderful memories!

Blowing out all 90 candles. I was impressed only 3 blows.

The cake!

Megan and Katie playing with the balloons I was just waiting for one to pop but it never did. They were having such a good time on these.

Is it just bad luck?

Ok so again I was just thinking maybe it's because I went to pick up Katie from dance today and the garage door would get stuck halfway up and I couldn't believe that yet again one more thing is breaking on us. I don't know what it is but it seems that in the last 6 months we have had terrible luck. Everything seems to be breaking or having problems somehow. It's funny how you can go years without any of these things happening then in a short time period it all happens. Good thing we budget for rainy days I guess. Poor Rob his to do list just gets bigger and bigger. The minute he fixes one thing the next is around the corner. It started in September when our car drivers door wouldn't open Rob felt like with me being pregnant I couldn't keep climbing out the window or out the drivers side too long. Then the kitchen drain started leaking water, then the fireplace was making a loud boom (not a good thing for a gas fireplace), the dishwasher (I would do a load and at the end none of the water would be drained, it ended up being a small piece of glass stuck in the pump from a glass that had broken), then the sink in the kitchen again something completely different started leaking, washer stopped spinning out water, our vacuum stopped working so we had to get a new one, last week it was the toilet, and then today the garage. Wow maybe it's just me but it just seemed like a lot. Anyway I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining I really just think how ironic. What can you do, it's a good thing we bought a home warranty is all I keep saying. It's really all good, I just had to laugh about it today when it happened. Hopefully our unlucky luck will end soon! Some years it seems that we can't seem to stay out of the Dr's office for health reasons and this year I guess this is our trial.

Megan is growing like a weed!

So I was just thinking today about how big my "baby" is getting. Amazing how kids sneak up on us. One minute they are these perfect little babies and in the glimpse of an eye they are grown up walking toddlers, who are talking, laughing, and understanding so much! Megan is such a great little girl and such a mommies girl. All my kids loved me don't get me wrong but this one is so much more attached to me than they were. She is also my hugger. Megan gives the best hugs ever and can plant one on you and never let go. It is so great when anyone needs a hug we always know who to get a good one from. She is talking more and it's so fun to see her personality growing. She says mom, dad, jee (Jesus), Justin, bapa (grandpa), mama (grandma), dink, b for button, owe, uh oh, pop pop (for dancing I think this is from Tiffany because of the song Katie danced too it said "pop pop Santa clause in it and ever since she refers to this), baby, me, megs, k t,tries to sing the alphabet, loves to dance, mo (more), cookie, she'll make this noise with her mouth whenever she wants to eat, cow, moo, horsey, dog, meow (cat), bah, melmo (Elmo), and so much more. She is fun to be around. The best is that though she doesn't say much but she knows everything I am saying. Any instruction I give her and she will do it. She is very obedient too. She is even starting to learn how to throw her own little tantrums at times. She has the nickname of trouble because somehow she always ends up knee deep in something either with the help of her siblings or all on her own. Anyway I love you baby girl and I admit I am a little nervous for you when Mommy has the baby I don't know how she'll do while I'm away at the hospital and with a new baby. Time shall tell I guess. Still love ya tons and hope you stop growing so fast.

Fun at the cabin with friends!

January 3, 2009
This weekend we went up to our cabin for a fun weekend with Matt & Rochelle and their kids. We had a great time riding snowmobilles, playing games, watching movies, sledding, eating good food, hanging out and enjoying the great outdoors. Brooklynn had the most exciting adventure. She got to go down to insta-care since she was having a hard time breathing. She ended up in an ambulance to Primary childrens, where they kept her overnight and watched her breathing. With some good medicine though she and Matt were back at the cabin the next day and you would have never known she had been so sick. Other than this adventure I think everyone had a great time!
Justin riding on the back of the sled making sure we didn't lose anything. Such a trooper.

Megan and Katie on the snowmobille. They had so much fun riding around. Megan just fell asleep usually but the rest had fun!

We made a turkey while there and when everyone saw the Turkey they just started eating it to the bones, they looked like they hadn't eaten in days or something.

Katie sledding. She loves the outdoors.

Happy New Year!

December 31, 2008
Welcoming in the new year with fun. We had Robs family over for yummy mormon enchiladas (that's what we call them they are a family favorite that go way back)! Since Rob's sister and her family were in town from Texas we had a new years party with Rob's family this year! We had dinner, snacks and treats, and played games. The kids and adults had fun trying the wii and hanging out. We put the kids in the basement to play and watch disney movies too. It was a fun night. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I went outside to take some photos of the kids in the snow cave and when I came in Megan decided to put some of her own gloves on. They were just oven mitts!
